Can You Identify Famous Faces Rendered as Cake or Action Figures?
LONDON, February 24, 2023 – Magicave, the digital toy, game and hobby startup, today announced it has launched an experimental AI picture quiz, PubQuiz.AI. Powered by images created by DALL-E-2, Pubquiz.AI offers a new quiz daily, challenging visitors to correctly identify the eight celebrities pictured. The twist is that the famous faces are AI-generated awkward lookalikes – or can take the form of boxed action figures, 8-bit renders, oil paintings and more.
Pulling from a curated database of well-known actors, musicians and sportspeople, PubQuiz.AI currently creates a themed quiz each day specifically for US or UK quizzers, as well as one for international visitors. All previous quizzes for each market are available in the PubQuiz.AI archive. Each daily quiz can also be downloaded as a printable image, letting budding quiz masters challenge friends and colleagues offline.
Ste Curran, Magicave’s Creative Director explained “As part of our ongoing exploration of ways new technologies can aid game development and create new types of game, we’ve been playing with AI. We’ve found that, used carefully, it can be really helpful to our process, and used carelessly it can be pretty funny. We made PubQuiz.AI as an internal experiment – but it was so distracting during daily standups we thought we should share it with the world.
